For months, UFC President Dana White has made great efforts to persuade Khabib Nurmagomedov to withdraw the decision to retire after he won Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. Unfortunately, up to now, the Russian champion has not changed his mind.
But as Nurmagomedov presented in detail in a recent interview, only one name has the ability to tempt him to return to the ring – and that's not the rematch against Conor McGregor that Dana White is trying to realize. It must be Georges St-Pierre.
“You can name me any boxer at UFC right now, no name of these makes me excited,” Khabib said.
“Rafael Dos Anjos, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor, they are the former championship. I have defeated them all, they no longer create a challenge for me anymore. I mean against anyone of them, no more fire, not making me excited.”
“But when I heard the name Georges St-Pierre, I was ready to stand up and start the training session by running 10 km right away.”
However, before Dana White was limited to the prospect of a Superfight match between the two most famous boxers in the tournament, Khabib Nurmagomedov also said that this is not a feasible option.
“A confrontation with Georges St-Pierre really made me excited, right, but it all ended. Georges was 40 years old, let's not bother him anymore,” Khabib definitely.
