According to the initial notice from the Asian Boxing Federation (ASBC), the Asian Boxing Championship 2023 is scheduled to take place on July 14 in Astana, Kazakhstan. This is one of the important tournaments of Asian boxing. However, ASBC issued a decision to postpone indefinitely with this tournament, and every high -achievement boxing tournament organized by ASBC in 2023.
“We will postpone all Boxing championships held in 2023, including Asian Young Boxing,” ASBC's official letter said. According to the organization, the main reason that ASBC postponed the organization of tournaments was because they wanted to focus on discussing the solution with the National Federation of Members.
Earlier, on June 22, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to delete the status of Boxing management at the Olympic level of the International Boxing Association (IBA). In ASBC's announcement, they asserted supporting Asian athletes to pursue their dreams of competition in the Olympic arena. Therefore, in the context of Ioc deprivation of IBA's rights, ASBC decided as follows:
– ASBC Executive Committee will conduct an extraordinary meeting to amend the Federation Charter. Accordingly, ASBC will allow the National Federation to work in a special stream, when they let them work directly with an international -level Boxing management federation that is recognized by IOC.
– ASBC Executive Committee authorizes the Chairman and General Secretary in keeping in close contact with all members, the National and International Federation. All information is updated closely to the Members' Union in the most accurate and fastest way.
Earlier, Vietnam plans to send 7 boxers to attend the Asian Youth Boxing Championship 2023. This is one of the activities to increase the opportunity to rub and compete for young athletes. More notably, 7 expected faces of Vietnam are all female boxers.
