Over the years, Boxing Vietnam has witnessed the dominance of 2 units. The military has a great advantage in male boxing, and Hanoi is very strong in the content of women's competition. That continues to be shown at the National Boxing Championship 2023, where the fighters of the two delegations went deep and disputes.
With the army, they opened the final series with a victory in the female boxing category. Martial artist Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, who has just won a bronze medal of the Asian Boxing Award, surpassed Nguyen Thi Thu (Hanoi) in the gold medal match of 45kg of women aged 17-18. This is a completely Hong Nhung match on the opponent.
After Hong Nhung, the male boxers of the army in turn played. At the age of 17-18 for men, they won 5/7 finals. By the age of 19-40, the army continued to have 5 more gold medals from 12 matches. That achievement helped the army stand the first group in 2 ages for men.
On the side of Hanoi women's delegation, they had an unpleasant start on the first day. Hanoi female boxers only won 1/6 of the final match. It was not until the last day, with 6 finals in the balance classes, the boxers of the Hanoi Boxing team were exploding to win the first throne of the whole group of 19-40 for women.
The martial artists won the gold medal for the Hanoi women's delegation on the last day of competition including Ha Thi Linh, Luu Diem Quynh, Nguyen Thi Huong and Ca Thi Huyen. In particular, the victory of Ca Thi Huyen brought more or less unexpected elements, when she overcame the reigning champion Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoai to win the championship.
At the age of 17-18 for women, the first place of the whole delegation suddenly belonged to An Giang. The An Giang delegation had 2 boxers in the final, and they won those two matches. The fighters helped An Giang stood most in the whole group of 17-18 for women, Le Hai Au (52kg weight) and Huynh Thi Nhu Y (weight of 63kg).
