In the interview in Brazil's Combate newspaper, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza said he would stop playing. This boxer retired with a professional achievement of 26-10, including 8 knockout wins and 14 matches forced the opponent to 'beat the floor'.
“I fought a lot. I retired from Jiu-Jitsu very early to my wholeheartedly for MMA and now I have no intention of continuing. I will give up the martial arts and come back to Brazil Jiu-jitsu, the martial art has created me and is what I love. I am returning to practice and I know I will go back to play but not MMA. Currently very developed compared to before, “Souza answered in the press.
Ronaldo Souza is the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and was the champion of the wrestling competition in Abu Dhabi. He is also a medium MMA champion in Strikeforce. The 41 -year -old boxer registered an exclusive contract with UFC from 2013 to 2021.
Despite having to go through a series of unsuccessful matches at the end of his career, Souza has long been considered one of the best middle -class fighters in the past decade. He participated in two stretching matches in 2015 and 2017 but never once successful.
Souza's most recent match is the confrontation against André Muniz at UFC 262. Brazilian boxers broke his arms in this match, losing to Knock-out of technical and surgery. UFC later did not sign the contract with Souza and this could be one of the reasons why he decided to retire from MMA career.
