Justin Gaethje's BMF belt against UFC 300 ended with a failure, but it was a memorable competition. He had a match against Max Holloway, and only lost to knock-out in the last second of the 5th half.
The statistics from the match show that Justin Gaethje has experienced 5 horrific halfs. He broke his nose from the beginning of Hiep. At the time of falling because of Max Holloway downstream, Gaethje received a total of 180 striking blowes (punches, kicking, patting, pillows) from the opponent. 62 of them hit the head.
For that reason, Gaethje confirmed that he would continue to stick with UFC, but not in the near future. This boxer will most likely take a break until the end of this year, before entering the next plans. In the immediate future, he planned to rest for the next 6 months.
“I am always ready to play, but the current condition does not allow me to do it. A martial artist needs to know how to take care of myself before entering the next match. With the injuries in the last match, I need to rest for at least 180 days,” Gaethje said.
The former champion of UFC's Lightweight Add to the weightwear class added: “It was the time when I was temporarily away from martial arts. I would spend those days recovering myself. Of course I could practice, but not much. It was the intensity needed for me at the moment.”
In UFC's lightweight weight class, Gaethje is considered a leading candidate that can challenge Islam Makhachev. The defending champion will enter the belt protection battle in the near future. Makhachev's opponent Dustin Poirier, who lost to Gaethje in the BMF Battle Battle last year.
