Back in 2018, UFC 229 marked the highest match of UFC: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor. This is a match that witnessed the Trashtalk lasting throughout the year, attracting the largest viewers in UFC history, and also an event marking two scuffle outside the stage, causing both Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmaomedov to be punished.
Since then, fans have been looking forward to witnessing Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov recovery.
However, with what happened at UFC 257, perhaps the match of Conor vs Khabib 2 will never become a reality. At least it is also an opinion from Khabib's coach, Mr. Javier Mendez.
“Conor will be defeated,” coach Mendez said. “Khabib has improved more than two years ago. Conor doesn't seem to be better, even a little backwards.”
With the defeat against Poirier of McGregor, Mendez believes that all opportunities for Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor 2 has permanently closed.
“We will never see the match at that match, just like we never witness the war between Tony Ferguson and Khabib. And I think the only and best opponent for Khabib is now Georges St-Pierre.”
“Even when McGregor won, I am not sure if Khabib wants to rematch him.
