On August 31, the Asian Boxing Federation (ASBC) held an extraordinary meeting. The content of the meeting revolves around the vote of ASBC to join the World Boxing, or stick with the International Boxing Association (IBA). The final result shows that the majority of ASBC members decided to stay in IBA.
Votes from ASBC have created a shocking event in the high -performance boxing world. Because, the above decision of ASBC members also means that Boxing is at risk of not appearing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. IBA then also spoke about this.
Besides the announcement to welcome the choices of ASBC members, IBA also did not forget to criticize World Boxing. They said: “The truth is that the World Boxing has no financial, professional and support to organize any major events. They have no intention of supporting member states, and there is no ambition to develop boxing.”
According to IBA's explanation, World Boxing was created for only the sole purpose: helping Boxing to continue appearing in the Olympic competition program. In addition to that, World Boxing has not made any effort to develop Boxing, in accordance with the mission of a world -level sports federation, managing a competition at the Olympic Games.
“World Boxing is not interested in sports development in each country, nurturing Boxing develops from the root, as well as improving the level of athlete.
According to IBA's explanation, the Olympic Games are not the only tournament to help Boxing grow. It is a system with the foundation of the world championship, the continental championship, for athletes of different ages. World Boxing is not committed to doing these things, while IBA is trying to ensure that happens.
IBA once again affirmed that they called on the Boxing Federation of member states to consider carefully before deciding whether to separate from IBA to join the World Boxing. Because, this agency will not accept a case of “turning the car”, because IBA is always committed to supporting the national athletes, coaches and the National Boxing Federation.
