As the only Vietnamese boxer to participate in Angel's Fighting Championship (AFC) 23, Hoang Nam Thang was chosen to replace Nguyen Tien Long, who retreated at the last minute. His opponent is Oh Su Hwan, Korean boxer, nicknamed Monster (monster) and achievements of 5 professional matches.
Appreciated by Hoang Nam Thang in terms of class and competition experience, Oh Su Hwan actively attacked the opponent from the first minute. He put the opponent into the corner of the cage, approached and then launched close attacks, while limiting the striking skill set of Vietnamese boxers.
In a situation of approaching Nam Thang, Oh Su Hwan hugged Vietnamese boxers and launched a knee sweep. This attack caused Nam Thang to suffer a lot of pain. Not long after winning the blow, Nam Thang fell down. The referee immediately stopped the match, declaring the victory of the Korean boxer.
The test results later showed that Hoang Nam Thang seemed to dislocate the knee after winning the blow from OH Su Hwan. The victory of Korean boxers once again shows a difference in the level and experience of MMA competition of foreign boxers. They are beneficial because they are more knowledgeable about the competition format.
At the end of AFC 23, “Angel MMA Tournament” promises to return to Vietnam in the next events. The Organizing Committee is expected to organize 1-2 professional MMA events every year in Vietnam. That is the basis for AFC to continue having matches outside Korea, with Vietnamese boxers attending.
