Returning to 2013, Anthony Joshua became a national hero after winning the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
At the peak of glory, at this time Anthony Joshua had to be confused between the two roads – continue playing boxing in the Amateur system, or advanced to the Professional Professional System?
At first, Joshua's expectation was to stay in Amateur class, continuing the companion with England in the next Olympic Games – RIO 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
Anthony Joshua also said he had an unpaid debt with the Azerbaijan Magomedrasul Majidov fist, when he lost to the hands of Majidov in an unfair manner in the final of the World Championship in 2011.
“I was only one point inferior to Majidov, only one point inferior to the gold medal,” Joshua recounted on the Eurosport. “I look forward to returning to the ring, I have a lot of goals to touch.”
Unfortunately, everyday life does not please people. In early 2013, Anthony Joshua suffered a heavy fish eye injury. This injury forced him to sit outside the fight for a long time, and also forced Joshua to think about what he wanted in the future.
“Everything came quite quickly compared to what I imagined about my boxing path,” Joshua said.
“It took me 3 years to come from a person who has just entered the gym to become a fist that can compete in the international arena, with rivals from all over the world. I am still quite unfamiliar with becoming a punch – my whole family has no one to become a martial artist, or become a professional athlete in any sport at all.”
But there is a very clear point for Anthony Joshua – he is passionate about boxing, and he wants to cultivate himself more to become a better boxer in the future. This means that he needs to be challenged in a more harsh arena, which is professional boxing.
“Actually, I still have a bit of anxiety about the decision to play boxing at a professional level, at least until I enter the unified match with Wladimir Klitschko,” Joshua admitted.
“I still think of my former teammates, about the opportunity I can play in the Rio Olympics with them, to bring glory to England. But if they have tried hard at their playground, I also have to make efforts in my player.”
“As soon as I defeated Klitschko, I felt that I had contributed to the country no less than my teammates in Rio. And to me, that's enough.”
