Lion Championship is the first professional MMA tournament system in Vietnam established by the Vietnam Martial Arts Federation (VMMAF). After a relatively successful season, Lion Championship in the second season received more waiting and caring from the audience. Along with that, Lion Championship also has changes in the formula and competition law. One of the rules of competition changes compared to the previous season is the abandonment of wrapping and prohibiting boxers using the lump when hitting.
Referee Bui Thi Nhat Le, one of the referees on duty Lion Championship gives his opinions on this issue: “As far as I see, this decision is perfectly reasonable. When the martial artists use it, it is very dangerous to the opponent. The areas such as eyebrows or cheekbones are prone to deep cuts, causing serious injuries.
Currently, MMA has only formed and developed in Vietnam in the past few years. The existence of limitations in the law or competition format is inevitable. However, the Vietnam General Martial Arts Federation as well as the Lion Championship Organizing Committee has received comments in a demand and changing manner so that the expertise of the tournament is getting better and better.
The referee is one of the issues that VMMAF is quite closely concerned: “Before each tournament, the Vietnam MMA Federation has arbitration training sessions. In those training sessions, we will have processes such as giving situations, solving situations and drawing situations.
But from here, I need to learn and cultivate Jiujitsu more to improve in the arbitration work and let me not regret when the boxer fell into dangerous situations that I could not intervene in time. “
Bui Thi Nhat Le is one of the famous martial arts referees in Vietnam. She has a one -star boxing arbitration issued by the World Boxing Organization (IBA). In addition, she can control matches in Kickboxing, Muay and MMA.
