Le Huu Toan is currently an unbeaten boxer in the Minimum weight class with a record of 6 wins, including 3 victories. He is promoting very quickly on the world professional boxing rankings.
Toan currently ranked 9 WBA, and could rise to a higher position after the victory on November 30 against Jake Amparo, where he successfully defended the WBA Asia belt. He has just shared about the plan in 2023, as well as making history for Boxing Vietnam.
– How are you playing in the boxing arena high?
In Boxing high achievement, I am playing within the national championships. I won the championship for 2 consecutive years.
– How can you describe your style of play?
My play style is more pressure. I always try to proactively close to the opponent, thereby putting pressure on them.
– When did you start practicing boxing?
Initially, I practiced Vovinam since 2007, when I was still in my hometown of Dak Lak. Because there are some similarities between Boxing and Vovinam, so in 2018, I switched to Boxing with the purpose of more intensive training, as well as seeking opportunities since then.
In 2019, after attending a number of amateur boxing awards, I was given the opportunity to join the Saigon Sports Club (SSC). The person who facilitates me to practice is coach Rhicks Pactiones (Dodong), and I started pursuing a professional boxing from there.
– How is Boxing in Vietnam welcome?
Compared to other countries in Southeast Asia, Asia as well as in the world, the professional boxing in Vietnam is still in the development stage. It is still quite new to us, but the professional boxing in Vietnam has received much attention from the media and the martial arts community.
Vietnam currently has more than 90 million people, so there is still a lot of room for boxing to popularize the audience of this country.
– You are advancing quickly in your career, so do you think you are ready for a world battle in 2023?
I have just played the professional boxing boxing for 3 years. Therefore, it is important for me to learn and experience more matches, to go further. I also need higher rankings on the rankings to choose to play the world.
So in 2023, I will try my best and play well to improve my abilities, as well as my ranking until the opportunity comes. I was fortunate to practice at SSC, the leading martial arts club in Vietnam, and practice with the top fighters.
I was fortunate to have teammates, coaches and managers. They support me, help me achieve my goals.
– What does the victory and the world championship mean with Vietnam?
Winning and having a world championship is the dream of Vietnamese boxers like us. Vietnam has never had a male boxer winning a professional boxing championship in the Big 4 group (WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF). If we do this, it will be the first time the Vietnamese professional boxing has been on the world map.
About myself, I hope one day, I will have the opportunity to reach that destination. I want to show the power of Vietnamese people. We may be small, but we are very strong with the spirit and will of steel.
