Usman Nurmagomedov, currently owns a 12-0 record, has just won a confrontation with Mike Hamelt at Bellator 255 this morning. Usman's cousin, Khabib Nurmagomedov also appeared in the corner of the ring to direct their cousin.
Khabib has been considered by many people as one of the greatest boxers in the world when he announced his retirement with a record 29-0.
“Playing under the name Nurmagomedov is a huge motivation,” Usman told the BBC Sport. “I want to follow Khabib's footsteps, follow his journey and eventually become a better version of him.”
Usman signed a contract with Bellator, the US -based MMA tournament in October after an impressive start in his career.
The 22 -year -old boxer ended 10 out of his 12 professional matches by locking or tightening or Knockout, with seven of them ending in the first half. He often practices with the former Lightweight UFC Khabib champion and said this experience is the perfect preparation for his matches, both physically and mentally.
Usman said: “I spend all my training camps with Khabib.”
“Playing and coaching with him is very hard. So, after finishing the training camp, I feel very easy to practice and fight with others.
“I learn everything from Khabib. Whenever I want to know or learn something, Khabib is there.”
