“Currently, I am gathering with the Vietnamese boxing team. Tomorrow I and my teammates will set out, come to Phan Thiet training. This trip will last 1 month,” said boxer Tran Van Thao and ITHETHAO.vn. Before the Lunar New Year, this puncher shared on his personal page about being called on the South Vietnamese boxing team to prepare for the 31 SEA Games held in Vietnam.
According to Decision No. 77/QD-TCTDTT released on January 21, 2022 of the General Department of Sports, Tran Van Thao was supplemented with the National Boxing Men's Boxing Team at the National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City. He will focus with the team from January 17 to the end of December 31, 2022. In addition to Tran Van Thao, the Vietnam Boxing team this time also has a few punchers like Truong Dinh Hoang and Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi.
Tran Van Thao has won the national boxing championship for 7 consecutive years, from 2009 to 2016. He is also the first Vietnamese boxer to win the Asian WBC championship in 2017. But in the SEA Games arena, the puncher was born in 1992 and has never won the gold medal in the largest arena in Southeast Asia. That is why Tran Van Thao yearns to go to the national team and win gold in the SEA Games for the Vietnamese sports delegation despite playing the professional.
In the past, Tran Van Thao often played in 52kg weight for men. But as expected at this focus, the Asian WBC champion will play in a weight of 54kg. He currently has a good performance when he has just won the unbeaten champion of Thailand Boonrueang Phayom. Tran Van Thao only takes 2 rounds to make the opponent measure the board, although before the millet is considered a bit better.
“Thao will continue the challenges, unfinished plans that have not been achieved in recent years. Once again, Thao will return to the Boxing Olympic arena to compete. Thao will focus hard, try her best and always be ready to devote when Boxing Vietnam needs Thao to play at the SEA Games,” the WBC Asian Championship confided.
