According to the announcement from IBA, the World Women's Boxing Championship 2025 will take place from March 8 to March 17. The venue for the tournament is the NIS city of Serbia. This is the third largest city in Serbia, with many historical sites from the Roman period. Membership countries can register a player to compete until February 20.
The boxers participated in the World Women's Boxing Championship 2025 competed in 12 weight classes, from 48kg to +81kg of women. In the history of previous tournaments, Vietnam has won 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal. Serbia is also a familiar place with international boxing tournaments that have been taking place over the years.
Mr. Nenad Borovcanin, Chairman of Boxing Serbia, said the country expected the tournament to attract about 500 athletes from 100 countries attending. This is a huge number and difficult to achieve. However, IBA can apply policies to support funding for moving and staying with many small countries to send athletes.
The last time the World Women's Boxing Championship took place in 2023. At that time, the tournament recorded 324 fighters attending. 2025 is also the year with SEA Games. Therefore, the World Women's Boxing Championship can be chosen as a real “fire trial” environment for the leading boxers in Vietnam.
Vietnamese boxers who won a medal at the World Women's Boxing Championship were Nguyen Thi Huong (2019) and Nguyen Thi Tam (2023). Both are still playing. On Nguyen Thi Tam's side, she was in the process of recovery after surgery, and could return to the highest form in mid -2025.
