On March 20, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) conducted the 144th session at Costa Navarino, Greece. This session discussed many important issues. One of them is the approval of putting Boxing into the competition program of the Los Angeles Olympic Games 2028.
The decision to put Boxing into the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic competition program is based on IOC recognizing World Boxing as the previous Olympic Boxing Management Union. This is a big step of World Boxing in officially replacing IBA in Boxing management.
With the officially recognized World Boxing, they will become the Boxing Management Unit at the Los Angeles Olympic Games 2028. This includes the system of continental and world -class tournaments of the World Boxing will have a more voice, because they are in the Olympic program framework.
World Boxing has succeeded in officially recognized, and at the same time receiving the management of the Olympic competition program before Ioc elected the new President. This helps them to be righteous. Therefore, after this decision, some countries have prepared records to join the World Boxing.
Also at the 144th session, IOC elected Mr. Thomas Bach, current chairman of the honorary president. Mr. Thomas Bach has a great reputation in IOC after 2 working terms. Despite being convinced to continue to hold the position of IOC Chairman, Mr. Thomas Bach will leave the chair in the near future, so that the IOC can elect the new president.
