According to the initial schedule of Lion Championship 6, most of the matches of the event of the event will be the confrontation of the 56kg weight class. One of them is the encounter between Dang Van Quy (Vietnam Fight Club) and Phan Thanh Tung. However, shortly after the briefcase was announced, Thanh Tung was injured and could not play.
Phan Thanh Tung's injury caused the Lion Championship organizers forced to find another fighter against Dang Van Quy. The chosen face was Pham Ba Hoi, Dak Lak boxer. In the past, Pham Ba Hoi was the representative of Kickboxing Vietnam to compete at SEA Games 30 (2019). He won the gold medal in Low Kick, weight of 54kg male.
In the first season of Lion Championship, Pham Ba Hoi competed in 56kg weight and stopped in the quarterfinals. He often proved to dominate every time the striking attacks with other boxers. However, the lying attacks (grappling) is the thing that the Pig still needs to improve, in the context of many Vietnamese boxers who have learned this technique a lot.
At the present time, Phan Thanh Tung is ranked 12th weight of 56kg, while Dang Van Quy ranked 10th. Meanwhile, Pham Ba Hoi temporarily ranked 6th thanks to the quarterfinals of the previous season. The fight with Dang Van Quy will be an opportunity for Ba Hoi to improve the rankings, and to have more experiences with MMA Vietnam.
In 2023, Pham Ba Hoi not only played in the framework of Kickboxing. At the Cup of the Muay Club nationwide, the former SEA Games champion also registered to attend. This shows that Ba Hoi is trying to play more, in order to return to the inherent form and towards new arenas.
