To prepare for Lion Championship, the first professional martial arts tournament in Vietnam, the Vietnam General Martial Arts Federation (VMMAF) has spent a long time training for clubs, coaches and referees. Towards the Lion Championship for the first time, they are the people who trained fighters for the tournament.
Speaking at the press conference to launch Lion Championship, Mr. Vo Quoc Thang, Standing Vice Chairman of VMMAF said: “Up to the present time, we have received 120 sets of applications from the boxers. Of which, 8 fighters have achieved achievements in martial arts in the world level, 6 regional people in the region.”
Among the boxers attending Lion Championship 2022, there are many famous athletes of Vietnamese martial arts such as “Lonely Muay Thai Thai” Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat “, Tran Quang Loc – the first MMA Vietnamese boxer, Nguyen Thi Hang Nga – 2 -time boxer to win the gold medal of SEA Games Kickboxing …
Sharing more about the quality of the boxers attending the tournament, Mr. Mai Thanh Ba, General Secretary of VMMAF said: “120 fighters attending are professional and amateur athletes of Vietnam, including 2 female boxers and 4 male boxers from abroad.
“Regarding the quality assurance for fighters to attend the tournament, we will arrange similar qualifications from the qualifying round. This is given to ensure the professional quality for the tournament, as well as not to have too many different pairs in Lion Championship,” Mr. Mai Thanh Ba added.
According to the notice from the Lion Championship Organizing Committee, the qualifying round will start from June 10 to 12 in Hanoi. After that, the tournament will take place in the Central/Central Highlands region (June 24-26, Da Nang), Southeast (July 8, Ho Chi Minh City), Southwest (July 22-24, Can Tho).
