Recently, the Vietnam General Martial Arts Federation (VMMAF) announced that the 60kg final of Lion Championship 2022 will move the calendar to the 2023 season. The reason is because both fighters Pham Thi Nhung and Chelsey Cashwell cannot attend for different reasons.
On November 15, Pham Thi Nhung announced her withdrawal from the women's 60kg weight battle because of her back injury. The fact that the boxer born in 2002 had to give up, many people felt regret when she was expected to be the winner of the 60kg weight championship. Before switching to MMA competition, Pham Thi Nhung once won the National Boxing Championship and the National Wushu. After that, the Organizing Committee tried to find an alternative opponent but still could not choose a suitable candidate.
As for the remaining candidate, Cashwell confirmed that he could not attend the final night because he encountered some problems with the representative unit. After that, the Organizing Committee worked with American boxers and the managing unit and agreed to move the 60kg final schedule to the 2023 season. Thus, the final night took place at Corona Resort & Casino Phu Quoc on November 26, only 7 matches left.
Earlier, a similar case took place in the weight of 60kg of men. Vo Thanh Trung Tin – a student of Johnny Tri Nguyen had to withdraw from the final against Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat, because the injury encountered before the semi -finals. He really wanted to attend the championship struggle, but the organizers asked the puncher to be born in 1993 to withdraw to ensure health.
