A boxer made other boxers fearless not necessarily a good boxer. The most frightening boxer when he or she almost never showed pain, ready to “sell blood” on the ring to devote a beautiful match or do not know what to give up.
The following will be the most scary boxers in the early period of Boxing history.
1. Sam “The Boston Bonecrus” Langford
Sam Langford owns a record of 178-29-38 with 126 Knockout. He played all over North America and played in weight classes from Lightweight to Heavyweight.
Heavy legend Jack Dempsey once talked about Langford, “There is a man … I will not fight because I know he will level me. I'm afraid Sam Langford”.
2. Stanley “The Michigan Assassin” Ketchel
Possessing a 49-5-3 achievement table, Stanley Ketchel is known as one of the most scary punchers because he is only a Middleweight weight martial artist but playing at Heavyweight in most of the matches of his career.
In the match against Jack Johnson – the first black champion of Boxing history – Stanley Ketchel was stuck with a strong and must collapse. However, he still stood up and continued to play for the second time in the 12th half (out of 20 rounds). At the end of the match, the organizers discovered that Johnson's punch was so strong that some Stanley Ketchel's teeth were pinned.
3. Kid Norfolk
The third boxer is Kid Norfolk, 87-25-7 with 49 victories of Knockout Baltimore. He was admitted to the Internation Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) in 2007. He won Tiger Flowers and Harry Greb, two of the most feared boxers in the past.
4. “Georgia Deacon” Flowers
119-15-8 with 55 defeated, Tiger “Georgia Deacon” Flowers is the fourth boxer in the rankings. In 1993, he was admitted to Ibhof. He used to be a medium champion and had a victory over Harry Greb.
5. Harry Greb
Known as the “Pittsburgh windmill”, Harry Greb is a puncher who owns a 107-8-3 record with 48 Knockout victories. What makes Harry Greb scary is that he played with only one eye and was the only boxer to defeat the Gene Tunney heavy champion, 65-1-1 with 48 KOS.
