As planned, Thanh Le will return to the ring on December 5 this year, confronting Garry Tonon in the One X event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of ONE Championship. Thus, Thanh Le did not play for a whole year since he won the championship from Martin Nguyen.
For many other boxers, this 1 year waiting period is quite boring. However, with Thanh Le, he did not – he spent most of his time studying the habit of playing rival. And according to Thanh, this preparation is not redundant.
“In my thoughts, the more you know about the opponent, the better,” Thanh Le said in an interview with Mymmanews.
“I will always have to consider a lot. My opponent, he will have this habit, he will get used to that.
“Moreover, in a thrilling and stressful match, there's no way people give me time to think about how I have to hit. All the scenarios must be done and trained, so that they become reflexes to eat in the blood from the training.”
“Therefore, the more I give me more time to prepare and analyze, the more I have more time to practice, to plan, imagine the situations of the match. And basically I will play better, when there is nothing that makes me distracted and the face of the match is in the palm of my hand.”
Thanh Le once shared on Instagram that he was practicing with the master Bjj Ryan Hall, and went to Jackson Wink MMA to improve geography techniques. It is expected that the champion is trying to improve the anti -object segment so as not to be bogged into the BJJ play script with Garry Tonon.
Thanh Le also revealed that after the training at Jackson Wink, he would return to Louisiana in the next few weeks. Thus, the One Championship champion is about 2 weeks left for preparation and moving to the competition location.
The match between Thanh Le and Garry Tonon was scheduled to be held since the summer of 2021.
However, at that time, both Thanh and Garry Tonon were injured (Thanh Le broke and cracked fingers twice, and Garry Tonon injured knee injuries), more complicated developments of Covid, so the One Championship moved the match between them until December 5.
