As the first professional martial arts tournament (MMA) in Vietnam, Lion Championship 2022 attracted more than 120 boxers to register and compete.
Among the athletes coming to Lion Championship, there are many notable faces such as “Lonely Cau Bridge” Muay Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat, defending champion SEA Games 31 Kickboxing Nguyen Thi Hang Nga, first MMA Vietnam boxer Tran Quang Loc …
According to the announcement from the Vietnam General Martial Arts Federation (VMMAF), the Lion Championship 2022 Championship will take place in 3 stages. From June to July, the tournament will start with qualifying matches in the North, Central and South. Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho are localities hosting the qualifying round.
Besides Vietnamese athletes, Lion Championship also attracts a few foreign boxers to compete. They are all very strong candidates in their weight class. However, Vietnamese representatives show that they can afford to win the first professional martial arts belt.
After the qualifying round ended, Lion Championship entered matches in the second round (quarterfinals, semi -finals) in Hanoi. Round 2 is scheduled to take place in August and September. Stage 3 – The final round is expected to take place in Phu Quoc Island in late December 2022 or early January 2023.
