After finishing the journey at the World Boxing Championship 2023, the members of the Vietnamese team returned to practice. Through Vietnam Television, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, the Vietnam Women's Boxing team coach also shared about the team's training schedule in the near future.
“Currently, the Vietnam Women's Boxing team has 4 boxers who are practicing in Hanoi. The lesson plan of the athletes consists of 2 training sessions a day. By Saturday and Sunday, the whole team is light.
It is expected that on April 15, members of the Vietnamese women's boxing team will leave Thailand to train. They will be here for 15 days, then return home and prepare to come to Cambodia. With the current concentration schedule, Vietnamese female boxers are gradually gaining good physical condition to prepare for the upcoming difficult tournament.
According to information of iThethao.vnBoxing Vietnam will attend 3 women's weight classes in the SEA Games 32 is 54kg, 63kg and 75kg. The athletes representing Vietnam competed in the three weight classes mentioned above have not been determined (except for Nguyen Thi Tam Don, 54kg ranked match) because the coaching board needs to observe the athletes' physical condition before making a decision.
Earlier, within the framework of the 31st SEA Games, Vietnam won 3 gold medals of Boxing. More notably, those 3 gold medals come from the weight classes of women: Nguyen Thi Tam (51kg), Vuong Thi Vy (57kg) and Tran Thi Linh (60kg). This is also the best achievement of Boxing Vietnam at the SEA Games ever, balancing the achievement of 3 gold medals in 2015.
