Oscar de la Hoya positive for Covid-19, Holyfield will fight Vitor Belfort?

In one of his latest announcements on Twitter, Oscar de La Hoya said he was hospitalized due to complications of Covid-19. At the same time De La Hoya also announced that he would have to leave the match against Vitor Belfort next week.

“The preparation for this game is already all for me in recent months. I want to thank everyone for the great support from you.”

If expected, Oscar de La Hoya will face former UFC Vitor Belfort on September 11 (on the morning of September 12 in Vietnam time) at Staples Center, Los Angeles. It was also the first time De La Hoya returned to the ring after the loss of Manny Pacquiao in 2008.

Referring to his health status, Oscar De La Hoya said that after having injected two vaccines, he was not subjective, but the disease still struck and made De La Hoya's health “really bad”.

“I took care of myself very carefully. I thought that the risk of I was infected with Covid was very low,” De La Hoya said.

Another legendary name, Evander Holyfield, may become an Oscar de La Hoya replacement in the upcoming match against Vitor Belfort. However, this requires the confirmation of the California Sports Committee.
