On his personal Instagram, Oleksandr Usyk confirmed that he would come back by Boxing after demobilizing: “I decided to start preparing for the rematch with Anthony Joshua. Many friends have supported this decision. Hope everything will be good and peaceful. Thank God for everything”.
Due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Oleksandr Usyk and many compatriot boxers voluntarily joined the Kiev territory defense force. This accidentally made the rematch between Anthony Joshua, which was planned to be held in March, had to be suspended.
The second match between Usyk and Joshua was scheduled shortly after the Ukrainian fist defeated the 2012 Olympic champion to win 4 heavy belts WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO of the opponent in September 2021.
During the time USYK enlisted, many sources said that Joshua would be talented with an alternate boxer to maintain his form and have a good professional preparation for the rematch. Names like Otto Wallin and Joe Joyce were mentioned to be “green army” for Joshua.
However, USYK officially discharged and returned to practice means that Joshua will immediately turn to the upcoming revenge. Usyk's team also negotiated with Joshua to restart the rematch immediately after the 35 -year -old boxer was demobilized.
Usyk and Joshua are likely to rematch in June, although the venue of the match has not been announced.
