Earlier this year, it was reported that VSP Promotion will organize some professional boxing matches between February and March. Along with that, some of the leading boxers in Vietnam such as Nguyen Van Duong and Nguyen Thi Tam will play professional competition once again.
However, according to Nguyen Van Duong's sharing with Thethao.vn before the Lunar New Year, he had no intention of professional competition in the first half of 2022. The reason is because the puncher of Bac Giang people want to save all the high -performance sports tournaments before taking care of returning to the professional ring.
“Actually, I did not know that I could play professional until the media reported. Currently, I have to compete at the Boxing Championship of strong teams nationwide in late March,” Nguyen Van Duong said. The boxer who attended the Tokyo Olympic Games needed to win this tournament to officially win tickets to the 31st SEA Games at home.
After the 31st SEA Games ended, Nguyen Van Duong had two major tournaments in the immediate future in 2022 as ASIAD (taking place in September) and the National Sports Meeting of 2022 (taking place at the end of November – early December). For that reason, the ability to play professional competition in the first half of 2022 is certainly not happening.
At the present time, the members of the South Vietnamese boxing team are training in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan. It is expected that next weekend, the team will end the training and return to prepare for the Boxing Championship of strong teams nationwide. The tournament takes place from March 22 to 31 in Tien Giang.
