Within the framework of the Boxing Championship of the national teams nationwide 2024, the Hanoi Women's Boxing team coaching decided to register Nguyen Thi Tam to compete in a weight of 50kg women aged 19-40. This is something more or less surprised, because in domestic leagues, Nguyen Thi Tam often plays 52kg weight.
The fact that Nguyen Thi Tam moved to a weight of 50kg to compete in the tournament was a testament to the Hanoi Women's Boxing Training Board, as well as the national team wanted her to maintain a good condition before entering the 2nd Olympic qualifying round. However, the branch did not support the boxer born in 1994.
According to the random draw results announced by the organizers, Nguyen Thi Tam will have to fight 4 matches within 6 days if reaching the final round. At the opening match, she encountered Nguyen Thi Ngoc Giau (Ho Chi Minh City). If defeating the opponent, the next boxer Nguyen Thi Tam is Pham Thi Thuy Dinh (Ninh Binh).
Besides Nguyen Thi Tam, the Hanoi unit also has another boxer competing in a weight of 50kg women aged 19-40, Nguyen Thi Thu. According to the Charter of the tournament, a locality can register up to 2 athletes playing in 1 weight class, equivalent to 2 different clubs. That helps athletes have more opportunities to compete.
At the last tournament, the National Boxing Championship 2023, the weight of 50kg of women with many notable faces participating are Nguyen Thi Kim Sang (An Giang, Champion), Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran (Can Tho, Runner) and Nguyen Thi Hoi (Bac Ninh, Bronze Medal). But since then, the order in this weight class has been disturbed.
Coming to the Boxing Championship of the nationwide strong teams 2024, Kim Sang has tried to play 54kg. Nguyen Thi Hoi took a break from playing to spend time for studying. Meanwhile, Ngoc Tran is training foreign countries and some members at the National Boxing team in Ho Chi Minh City.
