The 4th season UFC qualifier (Road to UFC: Season 4) recorded Vietnam for the first time a fighter participating in the competition. It was Nghiem Van Y, the defending champion of MMA Vietnam. To target UFC playground, Nghiem Van Y played in the Bantamweight weight class (61.2kg), less than 1 class compared to the domestic competition.
The need to squeeze deeper than usual has made Nghiem Van Y appear quite tired a day ago. However, after Van Y overcome the most difficult part of the weight, Vietnamese boxers soon recovered to return to the best condition. Before the opponent was Japanese boxer Imura Rui, Nghiem Van Y had an impressive match.
Entering the match with Imura Rui, Nghiem Van Y showed that he had not only had the forte of striking. Vietnamese boxers are very sensitive in anti -object situations. Even when Imura wanted to bring the game into the battlefield, Nghiem Van Y quickly countered to take advantage.
In the second half, in a situation where the enemy was lured, Nghiem Van Y had the opportunity to launch a back attack with a very strong force. This punch of Nghiem Van Y hit Imura's chin and caused the opponent to fall. Japanese boxers tried to switch to the object, but could not prevent the representative of Vietnam from continuing to launch very strong attacks at close range.
Witnessing Imura continuously received the blow without protesting, the referee decided to stop the match. Nghiem Van Y won the impressive technical knockout in the second half, thereby officially overcoming the first match. The next opponent of Nghiem Van Y will be the New Zealand Lawrence.
