At the present time, the Vietnam General Vo Federation (VMMAF) and the General Department of Sports and Sports have reached the consensus on the first MMA championship. Accordingly, the MMA Championship of 2023 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from September 17-23. This is also the first time MMA has appeared in the field of high performance sports.
In addition, in the latest meeting, the Asian Olympic Committee agreed to put MMA into the program of the indoor sports and Asian martial arts festival (AIMAG) 2023. Being the precursor of Asian Indoor Games, AIMAG 2023 held in Thailand and promises to have hundreds of talented boxers to compete.
Considered to be a martial art that has grown very fast in Vietnam in recent years, MMA is considered the “king” of martial arts because of its comprehensive level and high actual ability. This is the basis for VMMAF to organize professional MMA awards and high achievements, as well as training and improving the level of general martial arts referees.
After the success of the Lion Championship 2022 finals, the MMA Vietnam Championship started the 2023 season with a new series of events. Since this year, Lion Championship will conduct classification matches like the UFC play. Only the leading boxers can challenge the champion.
Besides the class division, the 4th Lion Championship will have a belt match. “The chosen” is Tran Quang Loc, the reigning champion of the 70kg weight tournament. The boxer of coach Johnny Tri Nguyen will protect the championship before an unknown opponent.
