At the end of 2023, the Philippine Boxing Federation has proposed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on creating conditions for Manny Pacquiao to attend the Olympics. They assert, with the heritage built in the professional boxing arena, Pacquiao deserves to play in the Paris Olympic Games.
On the IOC side, this agency has received the proposal from the Philippines. But in the latest feedback, IOC confirmed that Pacquiao was not to play at the next Olympic Games. The reason is because the age of Pac-Man has far exceeded the maximum threshold of fighters eligible for amateur boxing.
According to the current IOC regulations, boxers attending the Olympic boxing box is in the age of 19 to 40. This regulation is much easier than before 2013, when the martial artist was limited to the age of 17-34. Pacquiao was 45 years old so he could not play the Olympic Games.
Before the Paris Olympic Games, the Philippines had a boxing boxer to win tickets to the Olympics. It was Eumir Marcial, who competed in a weight of 80kg. Marcial won tickets to the Olympic Games after reaching the final of ASIAD 19. He lost to TQtarbek Tanatqan, Chinese hosts in the HCV match.
In the past, Pacquiao used to belong to the Philippine boxing team, before moving to the professional playground soon. Pacquiao's amateur boxing performance is 60 wins, 4 losses. In the professional boxing arena, Pacquiao fought 72 matches, won 62, drew 2 and lost 8.
