When asked about the motivation to motivate a boxer to play at UFC, the answer will often: “Because of the passion for martial arts”.
Of course, this is a huge aspect of Vietnamese boxer's life, but his true answer will be “love”.
“In a way, love has brought me to UFC. It sounds cheesy,” Ben Nguyen said in an interview.
“I met an Australian girl when I traveled to Thailand and that was what brought me back here (Australia).”
Before starting the MMA career, Ben Nguyen played Kickboxing and practiced at the famous Thai Muay Club. It was love that motivated him to live and compete in MMA – the type of antagonistic sport that thrives in this country.
“(Receiving a call from UFC) It was really touched to me. I felt my heart rate soared, I could not stop thinking about my face and my name displayed on a big screen. It's just my dream for a long time, I was happy and crying, I was like on the moon.
“Looking at that type of time, I went through a long way to get here and practiced hard to achieve the position now. Just look back at all the places I went and everything I had experienced – for eight years and finally all began to combine together. Eight years of MMA training has finally led me to a time when I am the biggest MMA tournament.”
At UFC, Ben Nguyen has achieved a series of 4 wins and 3 losses. His contract ended in 2018. Even so, his impression was so good that he still appeared in the Ea UFC 4 game, which was launched in 2020.
