Khamzat Chimaev is emerging as one of the most breakthrough stars of UFC in 2020. He started playing at UFC in July last year on the Fight Island island, quickly defeated 3 rivals immediately John Phillips, Rhys McKee and Gerald Meerschaert in only 66 days.
In the victory, Khamzat Chimaev was arranged by UFC to fight Leon Edwards to compete for the position of candidate No. 1 in weight, but the competition was postponed after Chimaev had Covid-19. UFC tried to move the match until March, unfortunately, the plan was finally postponed a few weeks ago when Chimaev's health situation did not progress well. Instead, Leon Edwards will match with Belal Muhammad on March 13.
Meanwhile, Khamzat Chimaev is still suffering from the negative effects of Covid-19. Even in a tired moment, Chimaev intended to hang gloves and stopped playing earlier this week.
Artur Chimaev, Khamzat's brother, shared that “gray wolf” is actually very eager to return to practice but cannot pass the first training session because the body has not recovered. That returned to the mentality of the young star's mind.
“Khamzat was completely exhausted. His lungs could not stand the pain. It began to cough and become scared,” said Arturaev.
“It was sad and worried, this had a very negative effect. I told Khamzat to calm down. My younger brother needs more time to support the disease. He must know that this disease affects every person.”
Artur Chimaev also added that Khamzat Chimaev usually practices four sessions a day, but this time the young UFC star doesn't even get good enough to overcome the first training session. As soon as that shock, Khamzat coughed up a lot of blood. The fatigue, the effects of the drug, the more ominous symptoms, all made Khamzat suffer from depression and fear.
Even so, the brother of “gray wolf” is sure that Khamzat Chimaev has not retired. He will continue to rest until he fully recovered.
