After countless hours of bloodshed, sweat and tears in the gym, all that some boxers need to make their imprints are a great opportunity. For Khabib, that happened in early 2012, when he took the first steps into UFC cages to later become the world champion and ranked first on the Pound-For-Pound rankings of this tournament.
Undefeated boxer Khabib stepped out of the spotlight last year after defending the Lightweight UFC championship successfully against Justin Gaethje. Now his mission is to help Usman, Umar and Islam Makhachev reaching the peak of glory.
But according to the president of the Eagle Fighting Championship, Shamil Zavurov, Khabib's investment in MMA Russia did not stop there.
“Dana White and Khabib discussed the Eagle FC tournament whenever they met,” Zavuurov told the media.
“I believe that at each meeting, Khabib will try to invite some of our top boxers to sign a contract with UFC.”
“We have an oral agreement with our boxers that if they show ourselves in our tournament, we will motivate them to sign contracts with UFC. No one holds them in Eagle FC.”
Currently, Eagle FC is acting as a transfer tournament for UFC, similar to the MMA Ireland Cage Warriors. Eagle will select the best fighters in the locality before introducing them to UFC. For example, the Cage Warriors tournament is the tournament that has “found” the Conor McGregor and Michael Bisping.
Of course Ireland Cage Warrior is not the only name that supports finding talent for UFC. Legacy Fighting Alliance, Cage Fury Fighting Championship and many other tournaments also play this role.
