Although only appearing at UFC not long, but with the impressive performance at the last UFC Vegas 25, Jiri Prochazka deserves to be a bright candidate for the throne in the Light Heavyweight. According to information from the UFC tournament, Prochazka will confront the winner in the UFC championship match between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira.
After the news was published, the reigning champion Jan Blachowicz proved to be anxious to confront Prochazka. On his personal Twitter page, Blachowicz wrote: “The match between me and you will be like a match between the prince and the Samurai guest, like a sword with Katana.”
Prochazka also replied, “If you can protect the title successfully against Glover Teixeira in the next match, I'm always willing to compare gloves!”
Glover Teixeira should have been the right to compete early, but he had to give this opportunity to Israel Adesanya at UFC 259.
After Jon Jones left Light Heavyweight, many names “rolled” were scrambling for the throne. However, Prochazka is a relatively new name in this weight class. With a stylish and somewhat colorful but effective fighting style, the Czech boxer used to be crowned in the Rizin tournament in 2015 and 2019.
Although it is hard to predict who will be the winner in the Blachowicz vs. Teixeira but the two above will make it difficult for Prochazka. Because he was a pure boxer about Kickboxing, while Blachowicz and Teixeira were quite strong in Grappling.
