Once “sure” that Conor McGregor would surpass Dustin Poirier not too difficult, the former Welterweight and Middleweight UFC Georges St-Pierre was forced to admit that Conor McGregor's failure at UFC 257 was beyond his prediction.
However, this is not the reason for McGregor to brave your face. According to St-Pierre, any boxer and sooner or later face the loss in his life. Their attitude before failure, that's the important thing. Georges St-Pierre even expects that McGregor will “revive” and return stronger than ever in the next time.
“I thought Conor McGregor would win at UFC 257,” Georges St-Pierre said. “Unfortunately, I was wrong, Dustin won surprisingly. Now, I am wondering if Conor keeps his calm at the pressure of this defeat?”
“Obviously, one of Conor's very good advantages is that he always plays the psychological game, always has the opponent overwhelming the opponent. I believe he can revive after that defeat. Conor is a fighter always confident. That's the best that I see from him.”
“To do that, Conor needs to” revive “after this defeat. Conor will need to change a few things in practice, even life, what he thinks have contributed to his failure. It doesn't matter if those things are right or not, as long as he believes in them.”
“For example, from myself, when I lost to Matt Serra, I believe that the main reason is that I have underestimate the opponent. Maybe I'm not worried enough, I don't practice much. Not necessarily they are the real cause of the defeat, but at least Conor can believe it to rebuild the confidence for myself.”
