In the latest press conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed Ilia Topuria will abandon the Featherweight weight championship belt. The defending champion does not play in this weight class anymore. Instead, he decided to promote Lightweight in the near future, and towards the stretching.
At the present time, UFC has not announced Topuria's schedule. He may have to fight 1 match with the first group boxer in Lightweight to achieve belt conditions. However, if Islam Makhachev agreed, they could play earlier than expected. The goal in 2025 is completely feasible.
Ilia Topuria abandoned the Featherweight weight championship after he lowered two UFC monuments for many years. Topuria's first victim was Alexander Volkanovski, then Max Holloway also lost his mind. They were all defeated by Topuria and the game was completely different.
With Topuria leaving the championship belt, the Featherweight weight will have to find a new owner in the near future. It could be Alexander Volkanovski or Diego Lopes. UFC has ranked 2 boxers on the belt competition at UFC 314, the event took place in early April this year.
Also at UFC 314, fans also witnessed another fascinating competition in the Lightweight weight class. Michael Chandler, after losing the last 4/5 matches in UFC, will encounter the Paddy Pimblett phenomenon. This match will verify the possibility of both broken artists at the first UFC group.
