IBA's lawsuit appeared just a few days after US President Donald Trump issued a gender order for athletes to play sports. This decree affirmed that the US only distinguishes two precepts, male and female, based on biological chromosomes. This provision is given to protect female athletes competing fairly.

Earlier, IOC had controversial when allowing two iMane Khelif and Lin Yu Ting boxers to play women's boxing at the Paris Olympic Games 2024. Before that, they were disqualified by IBA from the 2023 World Championship.

At the time of knowing the information about the “incident” of Imane Khelif, Donald Trump, when it was the US presidential candidate, voiced intense opposition. Mr. Trump asserted that the athlete, just like people had only two biological gender. In addition, he also wants to prevent all risks of female athletes suffering when having to play sports with men.

IBA added that the IOC case will be sent to the Swiss, French and American court in the next few days. In fact, the likelihood of IBA won the case is quite low, because they have been deprived of the Olympic level Boxing management rights. IOC also established World Boxing and a number of continental feders to manage Boxing to replace members of IBA.
