As a UFC reached internationally, as well as developing MMA as strong as today, Dana White is also known for many controversial statements. After inviting Mark Zuckerberg to watch an UFC event, thereby signing a contract with Facebook, White continued to surprise fans by his speech targeting football.
“Football? It's just a sport that plays with the ball. I can't stand the scene of watching football, and I think this is a 'corn' sport, the least talent of the earth,” Dana White said. This was shared by him in a sports dialogue recently.
Speaking more about his perspective on the sport of the king, White attacked: “There is a reason for a 3 -year -old child to play football: just running and kicking into the ball is okay. Not only Brazil, but children in every country know how to play football like that. Why is such a big goal but the goal is little?”.
Despite the controversial statements of Dana White, football is still recorded as the sport that is the most followers. A UFC event can gather hundreds of thousands of followers, but that number is still much inferior to football, especially matches in the World Cup.
According to FIFA statistics, the match between Japan and Costa Rica has 36 million viewers. The draw between England and the United States in this year's World Cup group stage also has 20 million viewers, only on FOX Sports's payment television system alone. Those are even the least attractive matches of the World Cup.
In the opposite direction, the most viewed match of UFC's history is the confrontation between Khabib and McGregor in October 2018. UFC recorded this event with a total of 2.4 million viewers live, showing that UFC was much inferior to a popular sports event like the World Cup.
