Lao General Nonito Donaire is 38 years old is one of the rare Filipino punchers who won the championship in 4 weight classes. After the defeat to the “Japanese monster” Naoya Inoue, Donaire returned to the stage in the WBC championship match against the young puncher who was only 28 years old and was kept unbeaten with 17 wins.
In this match, boxers from the Philippines were not appreciated because they had just received a defeat against Inoue and was 10 years older than the opponent.
However, the results are not as expected by many experts. After the first two rounds of exploration, Donaire unexpectedly forced to attack and lowered the opponent in the fourth half. The return of the throne of this fist made fans admire.
“The king is back,” Donaire said after the match. “Age is just a number, the most important is my ability. I believe that age is not a matter, most importantly your psychology. Losing to Inoue has helped me learn a lot. I can still play well with my current form. On the floor I not only play but also learn. I'm ready to confront new challenges.”
Donaire intended to rematch with Inoue in the future. First time in 2019, Inoue won against Donaire with a score. It seems that this Filipino punch wants to rehears the Japanese opponent.
