Before the match between Bivol and Beterbiev, Benavidez won against David Morrell. This victory helped Benavidez acquire the regular WBA championship belt, and the WBC belt temporarily in the Light Heavyweight weight class. In addition, Benavidez can also challenge the champion.

In the context of the rematch between Bivol and Beterbiev just closed, the two sides can continue to fight in the near future. However, WBC intervened. This unit asked Bivol to fight Benavidez before he wanted to encounter another opponent in the future.

Compared to other professional boxing management organizations, WBC's words are much worse. Therefore, Bivol may have to comply with the WBC requirements. A match between Benavidez and Bivol can help Benavidez get closer to Canelo Alvarez, the British really wants to confront.

David Benavidez was originally a boxer in the weight of Super Middleweight. He has repeatedly asserted that he wanted to encounter Canelo Alvarez. But for some objective reasons, Canelo has never accepted. That caused Benavidez to rank Light Heavyweight.
