Instead of going to Taipei to focus on the expected training, the members of the Vietnam Boxing team will leave Thailand to the next few days. This trip included 9 athletes prepared to attend ASIAD 19. It is expected that the whole team will leave on August 28. The training lasted for 3 weeks, closed on September 19.
The core of the Vietnamese boxing team attending ASIAD this time is experienced athletes such as Nguyen Thi Tam, Bui Phuoc Tung, Nguyen Van Duong, Ha Thi Linh. These are also the faces that will participate in the training of Thailand. Nguyen Thi Tam completely recovered and could compete in the European Olympics.
Boxing ASIAD 19 competition program has 13 weight classes of men and women, similar to the program of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With the expected 9th athletes to attend, Boxing Vietnam will compete in 9 weight classes of the upcoming Asian Games. At the previous Congress, Vietnam Boxing has won 3 bronze medals.
The Vietnamese Boxing athletes who won a medal in the ASIAD arena include Le Thi Bang, Luu Thi Duyen (Asiad 17, 2014) and Nguyen Thi Tam (Asiad 18, 2018). At the recent Tokyo Olympic Games, Nguyen Thi Tam and Nguyen Van Duong are the boxers representing the Vietnamese boxing to attend the Olympics.
In addition to the training and competitions, the members of the Vietnam Boxing team also enjoy the key investment towards ASIAD 19. This list includes 12 athletes and 3 coaches. For key athletes, they can receive 400,000 dong of training, plus 400,000 dong dong dong per day.
