Conor McGregor (June 22) has been sitting outside the stage since the injury of a broken leg in the rematch against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
Now, after the announcement “recovered” and “had a 190LB muscle body” (equivalent to 86kg), Conor McGregor immediately targeted the next opponent: Lightweight Charles Oliveira.
“When will I fight Oliveira?” McGregor wrote on Twitter.
“Ireland vs. Brazil 2,” Conor wrote in the second tweet.
Charles Oliveira (August 32) has recently completed the first belt protection against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269. Oliveira had an excellent match, forcing Poirier to tap out in the third half.
With the victory over Dustin Poirier, Oliveira has a series of 10 wins, most notably 9 of them ending with Knockout or Submission.
And Conor McGregor, UFC superstar has a record of 1 win – 3 losses in the last 4 matches – he lost once before Khabib Nurmagomedov and 2 times before Dustin Poirier, and McGregor's last victory was 40 seconds before Donald Cerrone.
Conor McGregor once said he was planning to return to the battlefield in the summer of 2022, but even Dana White did not comment on this issue.
While the majority of MMA fans thought that Conor McGregor immediately had a very unrealistic battle, the legend of the Brazilian MMA village Shogun Rua supported Charles Oliveira Chien McGregor. But the battle Oliveira vs. McGregor should not be in the Lightweight weight class, but in Welterweight.
“Conor gained a lot,” Shogun Rua commented.
“If I was Oliveira's manager, I would be ready to let Oliveira play McGregor in Welterweight with two reasons. First, a match against McGregor is still a match for money, second, Oliveira will not have to risk losing the Lightwight Championship.”
