Christian Lee (March 15) is the light champion of One Championship and has received countless challenges from the former UFC Eddie Alvarez (August 30).
This promises to be a peak battle for One Championship, but Lee does not think that Alvarez deserves the opportunity due to the recent achievements of American boxers.
On the achievement table, Alvarez had only one victory in four matches since joining One Championship in March 2019. However, Alvarez said that this did not reflect the truth. American puncher argued that he deserves a decisive victory in the most recent match with Rae Yoon Ok. Besides, Eddie also felt that the previous match against Iri Lapicus made an unfair decision from the referee.
Lee's younger brother said that Eddie was just excusing and asserted that the former UFC champion would not have the opportunity to compete at One unless there was a worthy achievement.
“In terms of Eddie, this is a match that the company really wants,” Christian Lee shared in an interview. “They want to send the One champion to face the former UFC champion, to defeat him.
“I think Eddie is a great opponent, but he has a series of three losses. In addition to winning against Eduard Folayang, he has not won any success at the tournament.
“I know them (One Championship) changed the decision of the match against Iri Thanh, who did not work, he was doing a big deal, but then he lost the match against Rae Yoon Ok. No matter how much this match happened, it wouldn't happen soon because Eddie did not do anything to prove that he had earned a chance to compete for belt.”
Lee also admitted that he would “never reject a battle” and will fight Eddie when his achievement is better. However, because that has not happened, Lee said that the tournament understood his decision.
