In regional boxing tournaments such as SEA Games, the referee attended the Asian Boxing Federation (ASBC) that requires international certificates. To prepare for that standard, Cambodia organized a training course for 8 standard boxing referees. They were granted an IBA international one -star referee after the course ended.
Cambodian referees with 1 -star IBA international stars are Sous Lina, Mak Samoeun, Phal Sophat, Nop VanThet, Mey Ratanak, Chuon Samnang, Nuon Wutty and Ms. India. They received certificates from IBA officials in the afternoon of February 2, after passing all professional tests with high difficulty.
Bouy Sophorn, General Secretary of the Cambodian Boxing Federation said: “From the end of 2022, we have cooperated with IBA to open training classes, foster professional and international certificates for national referees.
Of the 8 Cambodian referees with a 1 -star IBA certificate, 2 people meet the criteria for assessment of scoring at the 32nd SEA Games. The remaining six people will participate in the technical work in the process of organizing the tournament. They were the first generation of Cambodia's arbitration to be granted international certificates.
On the Vietnamese side, there are currently 14 IBA international standard referees. They are the people in charge of training in the locality, and are assigned to do duties in national and international tournaments. This is the first generation of Boxing arbitration in Vietnam to be granted an international certificate of IBA.
