The BKFC Boxing Prize said the match between Buakaw and Saenchai will have to postpone, and the possibility of going on is still open. At the present time, BKFC decided not to organize the match due to fear of being sued for violations of the Thai sports law, like ONE Championship has been sued in the past.
“After reviewing recent news related to ONE Championship and boxing management units in Thailand, as well as respect the tradition of the Muay Kingdom of Thailand, BKFC will find legal advice procedures for the match between Buakaw and Saenchai as prescribed,” BKFC said.
Before BKFC, One Championship was entangled in a lawsuit with the Thai government because of the violation of the Boxing and Muay rules given by the country. More specifically, Thailand stipulates that Muay boxers must fulfill their obligations: Paying for coaches, wearing traditional costumes of Muay even when playing in other martial arts.
Thailand's rules once made ONE Championship fined, and at the same time obey the terms at the following events. This is a mandatory job because if BKFC or ONE Championship violates, Thailand has the right to ban the Muay boxers of this country from abroad to protect the martial arts tradition.
On the side of Buakaw and Saenchai, they are symbols of Muay, both in Thailand and internationally. For that reason, “King Muay” and “Thanh Muay” will put priority to protect the tradition of Thailand's national martial arts first. This is also understandable in the context of Thailand seriously protecting the tradition of Muay.
