As one of the golden mines of Vietnamese sports at the 31st SEA Games, Boxing brought 3 gold medals. The highest martial artists were all representatives of the weak: Nguyen Thi Tam (52kg female), Vuong Thi Vy (57kg female) and Tran Thi Linh (60kg of women). They are the people who help boxing Vietnam to overcome Thailand, just behind the Philippines.
However, the owner advantage of Boxing Vietnam will no longer be in the SEA Games. According to sources from iThethao.vnthe host country SEA Games 32 is Cambodia will make some major adjustments in the program of many martial arts competitions. Boxing is not out of the scope of regulation.
Firstly, Boxing within the SEA Games 32 will have 10 competition content. More notably, Cambodia may cut weight classes for women, thereby increasing the weight term for men in Boxing. In fact, Cambodian boxing recently included male boxers.
Secondly, except for the host country of Cambodia, the delegations attending the 32nd SEA Games are only allowed to attend 70% of martial arts competition programs. That also means that Vietnam is only allowed to attend up to 7 contents in the next SEA Games. This is a significant disadvantage for Vietnam boxing because our strengths are female weight classes.
At the present time, the Vietnamese team has listed the focus of the members of the men's team, and the women's team in the southern region. The list of members in the Northern Women's team needs more time to close and publish. The core of the women's team in the North will likely include members of the Hanoi team, the unit winning 6 gold medals in the last congress.
