Boxing (also known as boxing) is one of the martial arts with the oldest history of formation and development in the world. Boxing is a antagonistic martial art, using hands, legs and flexibility of the body to perform punches, targeting opponents.
Unlike other martial arts such as Muay Thai using fierce lumps, Kick Boxing is used on kicks or MMA used all possible attacks to knock-out opponent, boxing only use punches. In Boxing, there are only 4 basic techniques: Jab, Hook, Cross, Uppercut.
Jab – straight punch
Jab, also known as straight thrust is one of the most basic attacks. The head and jaw joints will be the two main parts that you target when using this blow. Straight punch is considered an important weapon in Boxing. Not only to attack, JAB is also used for martial artists to distract the opponent and launch the combos effectively.
Steps to deploy an Jab blow:
– Start in a defensive position with two hands next to the nose. The back heel lifted slightly from the floor with two fists closed and the fingers headed to the chin.
– Keep your hips when you punch straight with your left hand. When punching, straighten your arms, your fingertips will down – floor.
– Make sure to hold the other hand tightly in the position and ready for the next attack.
– Put your left hand back to the original position, end the attack.
Cross – straight hand punch
The straight -handed punch is often used immediately after launching JAB or to counter the opponent's JAB. If JAB is a straight stuff with his left hand, the cross is an extremely powerful punch with his right hand.
Steps to deploy a cross blow:
– Start in a defensive position with a focus on the front leg, the knee is slightly folded. Hold your fist closed and your fingertips towards the chin.
– Rotate the hips in the opposite direction, punch the right hand forward. The tip of the finger is facing the floor while the right arm is straightened.
– Collect the right hand and hip to the original position, end the attack.
Hook – hook punch
The hook is considered the most difficult and effective technique in Boxing. Hook is often used after Jab and Cross. This is an extremely heavy blow and can be combined with JAB to create a knockout combo.
Steps to deploy an Left Hook (left hook):
– Start in a defensive position, hands close to the nose. The back heel lifted off the floor, focusing on the toes. Holding hands, the fingers headed to the chin.
– The elbow bends 90 degrees, launched a punch with the left hand and put the forearm completely in front of him. When the punch was released, the knuckles turned to the sky and the fingers turned to the floor. All hands, feet and hips simultaneously move.

Uppercut – reverse hook
