In the latest announcement of the Asian Boxing Federation (ASBC), they had a program of a special meeting related to Boxing destiny at Olympic. Here, members and the ASBC Executive Committee will decide to vote on joining the World Boxing or not.
At the present time, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has withdrawn the right to manage Boxing Olympic level of the International Boxing Association (IBA). IOC also established a new unit, World Boxing, and requires countries to join this organization if they want Boxing to continue to be in the Olympic Games.
On that basis, ASBC offers a solution by conducting a meeting and voting. The ceremony took place on August 31 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), starting at 7:30 am local time and closed at 12h. Pichai Chunhavajira, President of ASBC, will speak at the beginning of the program.
ASBC currently has 42 members. After the Paris Olympic Games, the three Asian representatives joined the World Boxing, China, Pakistan and Bhutan. Earlier India, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea were also Asian representatives announcing the joining World Boxing and separating IBA.
Besides ASBC, the European Boxing Federation (EUBC) also set the time to vote to join World Boxing or stay in IBA. The EUBC meeting was conducted at the end of October. This is a signal that EUBC wants to spend more time observing from the parties, especially ASBC before making a decision.
