Over the weekend, Petr Yan lost the championship in the first battle of belt protection because of the blow to the law against rival Aljamain Sterling. Sterling expressed strong emotions right after the match and emphasized that he did not want to win the world championship in this way. Yan also apologized to Sterling after the incident. The two promised to have a rematch soon to fight again.
It seemed that the two boxers had ended, not long after, because Sterling posted a picture of a glass to celebrate with the belt right after the championship match, the two began to argue on social networks.
Petr Yan was bitter because he thought that Aljamain Sterling was probably not as tired as what he had shown on the stage, if so, Yan lost the championship too unjustly. Meanwhile, Sterling swirled at Yan was the one who made a mistake. If Yan had nothing to regret for his behavior, Sterling wouldn't have to forgive.
Even this new conflict seems to be able to make Aljamain Sterling proactively “spoke” into the process of regaining the Bantamweight championship of Petr Yan. Sharing in a recent interview, “Funkmaster” said:
“I just started thinking about the moment he hit the pillow. Based on the way Yan behaved, in such a situation, with such a blatant intention, I could not have any other thoughts but he completely deliberately lowered me.” Aljamain Sterling said in an interview.
“I know UFC fans want the rematch. I also want a rematch against Yan because we have not really had a definitive end in the last match. But I would not object if UFC decided to arrange for me to fight others. I won't care.”
