In the latest announcement from the Algerian Boxing Federation, this unit said it has officially withdrawn from the International Boxing Association (IBA). The Algerian Boxing Federation also left the possibility of joining the World Boxing, which was backed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The main reason why the Algerian Boxing Federation separated from IBA was the controversy surrounding the Imane Khelif boxer. The 66kg Paris Olympic Games champion is constantly accepting as men. One of the most heavy khelif criticism is IBA.
During the period of Boxing at the Paris Olympic Games, IBA provided evidence that they had gender tests of iMane Khelif. The test results showed that Khelif had a male sex chromosome, and she was once disqualified at the World Women's Boxing Championship 2023.
Despite the fact that Khelif was accused of male gender, IOC still allowed this boxer to play the female boxing. President of IOC, Thomas Bach affirmed that Khelif was “born as a female, raised as a woman”. However, IOC insists they will not test Khelif's sex.
Besides Imane Khelif, another fighter champion at the Paris Olympic Games was also accused of male gender, Lin Yu Ting. The representative of Taipei China won the ASIAD 19 before taking the throne in the Olympic Games. Similar to Khelif, Lin was concluded as Nam at the 2023 World Championship.
