Despite following the brothers practicing Wrestling very early, the female boxer Tracy Cortez did not care about MMA until she saw her brother Jose Cortez confronting the former UFC Drew Fickett in 2008. Since then, Tracy started to cook the intention to play MMA. She always told herself that she could play MMA like her brothers.
Unfortunately, the match against Drew Fickett was also the last time Jose Cortez participated in UFC iron cage. He was discovered the germ cells shortly thereafter. Over 3 years of fighting this evil disease, Jose Cortez permanently left in 2011.
After this event, Tracy tattooed his brother on his arm to remind himself to write his dream of playing at UFC on behalf of him.
“Whenever I feel tired or depressed, I always think of my late brother.” Tracy Cortez shared.
“He plays cancer in his body but still overcome everything. While I am completely healthier and enough to make fighters than him. It is always a great motivation for me when I play.”
Now, Tracy Cortez is a professional MMA boxer and has a series of 8 consecutive wins. She started playing at UFC after passing Dana White's selection program (Dana White's Contender Series 22).
The next performance of Tracy Cortez will take place on April 17 at the UFC on ESPN 22 event. This opponent of Tracy Cortez will be Justine Kish, an experienced female boxer.
